Nobody puts baby in the corner!
š¼ If you are thinking of having a christening but feel slightly uneasy about the church and religious elements, then keep readingā¦
As you may know, having a christening isnāt your only option to announce your babyās name to your friends and family, have you considered a celebrant lead naming day as a way of a formal welcome?
You might be worried that naming days arenāt legal, but they donāt have to be, when you think about it christening donāt carry any legal weight, itās a celebration with religious aspects.
The area that is of course legal is after your baby is born, when you need to make a trip to your local registry office to register the birth and obtain that all important birth certificate.
So, getting back to what a naming ceremony involves, itās probably best if I outline what I can do for youā¦
The big-ticket item is that as an independent celebrant I would be accountable for all aspects of the ceremony, so that takes a lot of stress out of your special day.
I would work with you to devise a ceremony which could include the followingā¦
š¤ Welcome Words
š Readings (that I can source and read if you would like me to).
š¶ Your story, which I can capture and incorporate.
š A fun tradition or ritual (I have some fun ideas that can include all members of the family).
ā¤ļø Guide Parents Vows, instead of God parents we can have Guide Parents
š Poems (that I can source and read if you would like me to).
šŖŖ A Certificate that you and the God Parents can sign.
š Closing Words
As you can see from the above list there is a lot involved and thatās why you need a celebrant like me to source and co-ordinate all the various elements.
Location of naming ceremonyā¦
Donāt forget that the location of the naming ceremony can be anywhere you would like it to be, your home, plush venue or an outside location (gazebos to the hand in this country!).
If you wanted religious elementsā¦
āŖ The great thing is that if you did want to include religious elements such as a reading or blessing then we can do that, we might not be in a church, but we can incorporate anything you like within your ceremony.
I hope the above has given you something to think about, contact me if you would like to have a chat, Iād be delighted to work with you to create something special.
